CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost said Binance recorded more than $184 million in XRP perpetual-swap taker-buy volume after XRP fell below $1.30, highlighting a large but speculative derivatives response.
The busiest hour topped $73 million. Bybit recorded about $1 million and OKX $451,000 during that hour. Binance also posted hourly totals above $35 million several times.
CryptoQuant defines the measure as perpetual-swap buy orders filled by takers. It tracks derivatives trading and does not establish that an equivalent amount of XRP was bought on spot markets or transferred to Binance.
Darkfost said XRP had recovered about 5% that morning after the drop below $1.30, without giving an exact time for the reading. He said some traders viewed the decline as an opportunity to position against the prevailing move, described the activity as short-term speculation and warned that exits could make trading more volatile.
Binance’s XRP price page later showed $1.31, down 2.26% over 24 hours, at 12:08 p.m. EDT (16:08 UTC) on Oct. 16.
Chart coverage by crypto.news put $1.42 at the midpoint of an hourly channel. Ali Martinez’s Oct. 15 post focused on roughly $1.25 as a possible level for a rebound setup; it did not give a likelihood for XRP reaching $1.42.
Darkfost linked XRP’s decline to recent U.S. inflation reports. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) said September consumer prices rose 0.6% month over month on a seasonally adjusted basis and 3.7% year over year, not seasonally adjusted. Producer prices for final demand increased 1.3% month over month, seasonally adjusted, and 6.3% over 12 months, not seasonally adjusted. The next producer-price report is scheduled for Nov. 13 at 8:30 a.m. ET.
