MotoGP Group said Yamaha’s withdrawal from the Qatar round has contractual implications for its MotoGP and IRTA agreements, while the FIM will address sporting consequences under championship regulations.
Yamaha said it would maintain company-wide travel restrictions for the Middle East and that the policy informed its decision to leave the Qatar round.
MotoGP Group said consultations with the State of Qatar, Lusail International Circuit and independent safety advisers, alongside its own risk assessment, gave it no reason to change plans for the race. The remainder of the grid confirmed it would compete.
MotoGP rescheduled the Qatar Grand Prix from April to November because of the ongoing geopolitical situation in the Middle East. Yamaha said it remains committed to MotoGP and expects to return for the Portuguese Grand Prix on Nov. 20-22.
