Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council appointed new governors for al-Jawf and al-Bayda on Sunday, giving the incoming al-Jawf governor command of the province’s military axis.

The council named Major General Amin Ali al-Akemi governor of al-Jawf and commander of the al-Jawf Military Axis. It appointed Major General Hussein al-Ajji Ali al-Awadhi to govern al-Bayda.

Each decree took effect on its date of issuance and directs publication in the Official Gazette.

Al-Jawf remains divided between Houthi and government control. Houthi forces hold Al-Hazm and other areas, while government forces control separate parts of the province, as EconoTimes reported in its earlier coverage of fighting near Al-Hazm.
