Yemen’s armed forces said Monday they carried out 951 operations against Houthi targets in 24 hours as engineers cleared mines from recaptured areas in Jawf to reduce risks to civilians.
Army spokesman Col. Majed al-Nuzaili gave the account in a statement carried by Yemen News Agency (Saba). He said the military used aircraft, drones, artillery and rocket launchers against Houthi concentrations and positions, including supply routes. The army said 56 vehicles and other pieces of military equipment were damaged or destroyed.
The operation covered northern fronts, including Jawf, Marib and Bayda, along with southern and southwestern fronts, the statement said. Fighting also continued in Taiz, where government forces and Popular Resistance units pushed back Houthi attacks, according to Saba.
Engineering units were working to remove mines and explosive devices from parts of Jawf retaken in the previous 48 hours. The army said the work was intended to secure the area and lower the danger to civilians. It said operations would continue with precautions to protect civilians and civilian sites.
The casualty accounts differed. Saba reported about 332 people “neutralized,” while Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported 322 fighters killed or wounded in the same period. Saba’s account gave no killed-versus-wounded breakdown.
The latest tally is part of Operation Dawn of Yemen. EconoTimes previously covered an army report of 1,087 strikes under Operation Dawn of Yemen.
