Yemen’s government forces said Thursday they captured the Sanamat area in Taiz province with help from local resistance fighters, adding a reported battlefield gain to the army’s campaign against Houthi forces.
Yemeni army spokesman Majed Abdullah al-Nuzaili said in a post on X that the campaign had recorded 1,298 operations. He described attacks on Houthi positions and troop movements, supported by warplanes, drones and artillery.
Al-Nuzaili put the number of Houthi fighters and commanders “neutralized” at about 440. He said 132 military vehicles, armored vehicles and heavy weapons were destroyed or damaged. The statement gave no separate count of fighters killed and wounded.
He also said government units stopped attempted infiltrations on multiple fronts. In Al-Jawf province, engineering teams continued clearing mines and booby traps from positions retaken by government forces, while fighting persisted on southern and southwestern fronts.
The army says Operation Dawn of Yemen began Oct. 5. EconoTimes previously covered an earlier army claim of 1,272 operations in the campaign.
