Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council reported 40,761 military strikes against Houthi militias during the first month of Operation Dawn of Yemen, saying the campaign was advancing toward restoring state authority nationwide.
In its Nov. 5 statement, the council also claimed about 20,000 Houthi leaders and members had been “neutralized” and more than 5,000 military vehicles were destroyed or disabled.
The council said the operation was moving toward ending the coup, restoring state institutions and extending state sovereignty nationwide. At the campaign’s Oct. 5 launch, Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi said its aims included restoring state institutions and liberating Sana’a, which the Houthis took in 2014.
Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Majed Abdullah al-Nuzayli had previously reported 780 strikes in 24 hours and about 512 Houthi fighters neutralized.
The United Nations said renewed fighting had displaced more than 250,000 people by Oct. 20 and raised concerns about access in Taiz.
