Yemen Foreign Minister Afrah Al-Zouba and UK Minister for the Middle East Stephen Doughty discussed Houthi attacks in Taiz by phone Oct. 13, as Al-Zouba sought coordination on urgent needs, Yemen’s foreign ministry said.
The ministry said Al-Zouba described bombardment and a siege in Taiz, with needs arising from the Houthi escalation. The ministers also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between their countries.
Doughty reaffirmed UK support for Yemen’s unity, stability and territorial integrity, as well as for the government’s efforts to restore state institutions, the ministry said. Earlier EconoTimes coverage described how fighting disrupted Taiz supply routes.
