SAN FRANCISCO, April 24, 2017 -- Zephyr Real Estate’s illustrious agent Katharine Holland is again making news. She has authored a bonus chapter in the newly-published book, Walking San Francisco’s 49 Mile Scenic Drive, by Kristine Poggioli and Carolyn Eidson. The book presents an alternative to driving San Francisco’s 49-Mile Scenic Drive, by breaking it down into 17 bite-size walks for both brisk and sedate walkers.

Katharine Holland was invited by the authors to include a bonus chapter as a guide to the classic Victorian architecture of San Francisco’s older buildings. Over the years, Holland has gathered a colorful collection of anecdotal and historical information, which she has shared with her clients. Her wealth of information is now part of this book in a chapter entitled The Secrets of San Francisco’s Victorian Architecture.
Her chapter, illustrated by well-known local artist Clay Seibert, offers educational and entertaining tales of the City:
“Walking down a San Francisco street is like entering a time machine. Step inside the time machine and dial year 1888 and you see a charming Slanted Bay Italianate Victorian Painted Lady that will remain standing to be on today’s National Register of Historic Places.” And that’s just the beginning.
Authors Poggioli and Eidson walked the entire circuit in 2013 and found the adventure to be rewarding on many levels such as new discoveries, enjoyable exercise and soaking up the magical ambience of all that comprises San Francisco. Wanting to share those experiences, their labor of love began with researching sites, history and little-known insider tips about local explorations.
Katharine Holland has been in the real estate business for over 15 years and has a long list of happy customers for her efforts. She has been in the spotlight several times recently for her innovative marketing acumen including her prize-winning Corgi Realtor video, which may be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1F8A_4nOGas. She won the Bay Area Reporter’s Best Realtor Award in 2016 and was a featured speaker at the 2016 Inman Connect Conference.
“I am beyond excited about this endeavor,” commented Holland. “Knowing the architectural styles and lingo has been a rewarding study and has helped me bond with clients and their business.”
Walking San Francisco’s 49 Mile Scenic Drive: Explore the Famous Sites, Neighborhoods, and Vistas in 17 Enchanting Walks (Craven Street Books) was released recently and is available at bookstores, online booksellers and the publisher at www.walksf49.com.
