Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg reportedly met with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Friday, according to Semafor. Both Meta and Trump’s transition team declined to comment on the meeting when approached by Reuters.
On the same day, Meta announced the termination of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, impacting hiring, training, and supplier selection. This internal shift, communicated through a company memo, signals a significant change in the tech giant’s approach.
Earlier this week, Meta also discontinued its U.S. fact-checking program and eased restrictions on discussing divisive topics like immigration and gender identity. These adjustments come amid criticism from conservatives as Trump gears up for his second term in office.
The developments reflect a broader repositioning of the company’s policies as it navigates political dynamics and public scrutiny.
