b14g plans to distribute 68.15 million Core (CORE) to users affected by an Oct. 31 exploit, an initial recovery covering about 70.2% of the tokens taken from its staking service.
The recovered amount represents about 70.2% of the 97.05 million CORE drained from 91 staking orders. b14g said the first payout is planned within five to seven days, with each affected order's verified balance determining its allocation.
The recovered CORE was placed in a designated address during a network hard fork on Nov. 2. To address the unpaid portion, b14g says it will channel half of revenue from Core staking into later payouts; affected users may request allocations weekly. CORE released from exchange freezes would also be added to repayments.
The 68.15 million CORE figure appeared in Bitquery's Oct. 31 analysis, which identified that amount in wallets it linked to the attackers, as described in EconoTimes' earlier coverage of Bitquery's wallet findings.
b14g attributed the loss to its contracts processing withdrawal requests for zero tokens. It said Bitcoin (BTC) staking through its service was unaffected. The protocol plans to block zero or invalid withdrawal amounts, add alerts for unusual withdrawals and improve its emergency response so affected contracts can be paused within minutes.
