Professor in Civil Engineering, University of Pretoria I graduated with a degree in civil engineering from the University of Pretoria in 1984 and I am registered as a professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). I am a past president of both the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE) and the South African Academy of Engineering (SAAE). I have been a National Research Forum (NRF) rated researcher since 2007 and my research is focused on reducing the environmental footprint of the cement and concrete industry. I have been an author of 126 peer reviewed accredited journal and conference papers and to date supervised 35 research Masters and PhD graduates.
