Gareth's current research focuses on the idea/ideology of economic growth, and the political economy of the environment. His previous interests include the life and work of Karl Polanyi, history of the GDR, the political economy of Eastern Europe, international migration, and revolutions and social movements. He has published in The Ecologist, Open Democracy, Viewpoint, and Jacobin.
