Matthew Eisler

Strathclyde Chancellor's Fellow, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Strathclyde
Dr. Matthew N. Eisler is a historian of science and technology at the University of Strathclyde, where he studies the relationship between environmental and energy policy and science and technology, with a particular focus on material practices in the era of postindustrialism.

In 2017, he moved to the University of Strathclyde from North Carolina State University, where he served as Director of the Science, Technology and Society Programme. As a Strathclyde Chancellor's Fellow, Matthew completed a draft of his second book, a study of the material culture and lived experience of contemporary electric automobility, now under review at Johns Hopkins University Press. He is also one of the founders and principals of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Sustainable Practices of Research in Energy (C-INSPRE), a new and innovative interdisciplinary programme of doctoral training that links all four faculties of the University of Strathclyde.
