I am a postdoctoral research fellow at Universiteit van Amsterdam, where I am working on a project under Magdalena Wojcieszak studying how people react to exposure to dissimilar views in media. In my doctoral work, I focused on developing experimental technological prototypes related to journalism and public information; the goal of my work was to use scientific inquiry and technological innovation to help improve the productivity of public discourse and increase the quality of information flowing to the public.

After completing my undergraduate degree in Physics at MIT, I worked for ten years as a science and technology journalist and editor. During that time, I completed a Master of Journalism at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada.

I recently graduated from Northwestern University's Technology and Social Behavior program, which melds computer science and communication studies. I was based in the Intelligent Information Laboratory, where I worked under the supervision of my advisor, Larry Birnbaum.
