Latisha Nixon-Jones

Visiting Legal Research and Writing Professor, University of Oregon
Professor Nixon-Jones is an emerging voice in the developing field of Disaster Law. Prior to joining Oregon Law’s Legal Research and Writing faculty, Professor Nixon-Jones was the Assistant Clinical Professor of the Disaster Law Clinic at Southern University Law Center (SULC).

As a 2017 AmeriCorps Equal Justice Works Fellow, she was responsible for establishing, coordinating, and expanding SULC's disaster law clinic. The clinic's focus is helping low-income individuals who have been affected by natural or man-made disasters with civil legal issues.

As a fellow, Professor Nixon-Jones appeared on several news programs and delivered vital community outreach presentations. She was also featured in a September 2017 American Bar Association article highlighting the clinic. She has presented at numerous national conferences and helped develop a national federal guideline white paper for future Equal Justice Works disaster law fellows.

Professor Nixon-Jones is a member of the Disaster Housing Recovery Coalition and is currently a certified business coach and a national SCORE mentor. She also serves on the Association of Legal Writing Directors' members committee and the Legal Writing Institute's diversity committee.

Professor Nixon-Jones is licensed to practice in Louisiana. She earned her JD from Southern University Law Center with cum laude distinction and received her BSM in Management and Finance from Tulane University.
