Dr Carter's areas of research interest include canine fatigue and biomechanics and animal behaviour and welfare. She has extensive experience in behavioural data collection on a range of species, both domestic and captive wild animals. In addition, her current research has developed the use of gait analysis and an understanding of canine athletes. She has supervised students on both companion and zoo animal projects. In addition, she is interested in developing the research on performance animals, particularly canines.
