Lecturer in Sport and Exercise, Teesside University
I am a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise at Teesside University, and BASES accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist. I completed my PhD (2018), MSc Sport and Exercise, and BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise (Applied Sport Science) at Teesside University. My research to date has focused on enhancing sports performance (endurance and team-sports), specifically through the use of high-intensity interval training, monitoring of training load and performance profiling, but I have interests in injury prevention and the effects of technology on performance.
I recently returned to academia following a period working in Professional soccer within the EPL and EFL. I have also supported many athletes on a consultancy basis at recreational through to international level from other sports including; middle/long distance running, cycling, rowing, triathlon, Amateur Boxing and Wheelchair racing. In addition to my academic and practical experiences, I have competed internationally as a middle-distance runner, and represented Great Britain and NI in the World Cross-Country Championships (2015), the European Cross-Country Championships (2012/2015), and the European Athletics Championships at 5000m (2016).
