Associate Professor of History, Brock University
I am a cultural historian of 20th century Europe, with a focus on women’s and gender history, the world wars, border studies, nations and nationalism, critical heritage studies, and the politics of memory. My publications include a book on women and nation-building in France and Germany, and articles and book chapters on postwar reconstruction and commemoration, Nazi forced conscription and forced labour policies, and gender and nationalism. I explore in particular how the past is presented and consumed by the public in museum exhibits, monuments, and popular culture, and the impact this has on historical memory.
