Professor, Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering, University of British Columbia My research topics include discrete fracture network modelling, advanced numerical modelling of block cave mining, mechanical behaviour of hard rock pillars, slope stability analysis, and synthetic rock mass modelling applications. I am also researching Engineering Philosophy and Behavioural Rock Engineering, which studies cognitive biases’ role in rock engineering design, emphasizing the applications of machine learning to empirically derived concepts and inductive design.
