My research interests include place formations and the subject formation practices enabled by places. My current project investigates questions of place formation in nineteenth century colonial accounts of expeditions. With a focus on the links between the formation of tropics in nineteenth century literature, contemporary literature and environmental humanities, my project brings together colonial journals , manuals written by colonial physicians and speculative fiction.
