Postdoctoral research fellow, Central European University
Harout Akdedian is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow focusing on religion, state and disintegration in Syria and is currently based in the Center for Religious Studies at the Central European University in Budapest. He has a PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of New England in Australia, and has completed a BA in Political Science and Masters in International Law and Settlement of Disputes. He was a research fellow at the Human Rights Center in Costa Rica, and worked as a freelance journalist in Syria and Lebanon. He has written and taught in Middle East Politics, Islamic Studies, Peace and Conflict studies and International Law.
