Dr Erica Ballantyne is the Director of the Operations Management & Decision Sciences Research Centre at The University of Sheffield Management School. She has a PhD from the Institute for Transport Studies at the University of Leeds in the area of urban logistics and freight transport. Her research interests include: sustainable logistics and freight transport operations, particularly last mile contexts, and electrified transport applications; and reverse logistics and retail returns management. The interdisciplinary and applied nature of her research has led to her involvement in various national and international research projects. Erica has previously been employed in various operational and management roles within the logistics and transport industry, including for a major European 3rd party logistics service provider, working mainly in the FMCG and grocery markets. Erica is an active member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) UK.
