As a mid-career academic, based at Stellenbosch University, I am currently one of a handful of preeminent researchers on political behaviour in South Africa, specialising in voter behaviour and elections using quantitative research methodologies. I am a rated researcher (level C3 – Established Researcher) by the National Research Foundation. I have a strong track record in academic publications and an extensive published record in policy-based research. I have a doctorate in Politics, and was educated at the University of London (School of Oriental and African Studies) for undergraduate studies and University of Cape Town for postgraduate studies. I also completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Cape Town in 2013. I am South Africa's country investigator on several international research projects, including the Comparative National Elections Project (CNEP) and Comparative Study of Electoral Systems (CSES).
