Emma is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Essex, funded by the Consortium for the Humanities and the Arts South-East England (CHASE), who are funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). She researches women’s reproductive rights and reproductive justice. The focus of Emma’s PhD is on the responses by the English criminal justice system to women who are suspected of causing the death of their newborn children.
