Stephanie Lake

PhD student in Population and Public Health, University of British Columbia

Stephanie Lake, MSc, is a Research Assistant with the BC Centre on Substance Use, and a PhD student in the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Her doctoral research focuses on a range of emerging public health questions regarding the legalization of cannabis in Canada, including the possible link between cannabis and opioid use among people who use illicit drugs. Stephanie obtained a Master of Science degree from UBC in 2015, where she studied the rising trend of prescription opioid injection and its association with overdose among people who inject drugs in Vancouver. Stephanie served as staff writer for the UBC medical journal from 2014-2016, sits on the Board of Directors of Canadian Students for Sensible Drug Policy (CSSDP), and has published numerous first-author studies in leading peer-reviewed public health and addiction journals. She is the recipient of a Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship (2017) and a Doctoral Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
