I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Communication Studies and Media Arts at McMaster University. I am also doing a Graduate Diploma (Ph.D.) in Gender Studies and Social Justice at McMaster University.
I hold a Ph.D. in Communication, an MA in Cultural Studies and the Media, and a BA in Social Communications from the University of Tehran. My research interests include social media, digital activism, feminism, sexuality and the female body, focusing on Iran in the frameworks of critical and feminist theories. My Ph.D. thesis project concentrates on the embodiment, performances of nudity and unveiling as political actions in Iran. I am also the bearer of an international award for research excellence (2020) granted by the Image Research Network.
