I am a philosopher by background and training but now based in the Southgate Institute for Health, Society and Equity in the Medical School at Flinders University where I coordinate and deliver the Ethics, Law and Professionalism strand within the MD. Previously I spent eight years in the UK at the University of Birmingham, Keele University and the University of Ulster respectively. Prior to that I was based in New Zealand at Massey University and the University of Auckland.

I largely work on political and normative philosophy mainly in the context of medical practice, research ethics and other professional practices. I'm particularly interested in the regulation of human behaviour, and how social, legal and economic structures shape ethical decision making.:I've worked on this primarily in three contexts, research ethics, public health ethics and resource allocation in health care.

I am Editor in Chief of the Springer Book series, Research Ethics Forum, Book Review Editor for Public Health Ethics and Chair of the Flinders University Social and Behavioural Research Ethics Committee.
