I am a historian working for the University of Exeter. I specialise in trying to get to grips with what drove deviancy, bigotry and crime in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century America. At present I am working on an ESRC funded project investigating the legislative approach to Modern Slavery in the US and the UK. I am particularly interested in the way in slavery became trafficking in the US legislative sense and the impact of artificial intelligence on the future legislation aimed at controlling trafficking.
