I have a PhD in comparative literature. I have taught cultural studies, literary studies and critical theory for over twenty years in Australia and the UK. My research is focused on practical and theoretical issues in cultural studies. I am particularly interested in exploring the concept of the assemblage and its application to understanding urban spaces. With Gordon Waitt and Glen Fuller I am currently working on a project that looks at cycling rates in Australia and asks why they are so low.
