Professor, School of Information Technology, Halmstad University Thorsteinn Rögnvaldsson is Professor in computer science, specialization in machine learning, and currently also deputy vice chancellor at Halmstad University with responsibility for research. Thorsteinn initiated and directs Halmstad University's Center for Applied Intelligent Systems Research (CAISR) (see https://www.hh.se/caisr). Thorsteinn's main research direction is machine learning for knowledge creation. Some examples of Thorsteinn's ongoing projects are deep neural networks for predicting development indicators from satellite images, predictive maintenance for machines, machine activity recognition, and creating synthetic data.
