Becky Alexis-Martin is a Research Fellow in Human Geography at the University of Southampton. Her research interests include nuclear communities, societies and cultures - from the atomic imaginary, to nuclear test veterans, accident survivors, anti-nuclear activists and apocalyptic preppers.
She is the Principal Investigator of Nuclear Families, a large-scale and multidisciplinary social sciences project which explores the lives of the British Nuclear test veterans and their families. Before becoming an academic, she developed a fascination for preparing for the worst and hoping for the best whilst working in emergency planning and management.
