Marcus Evans is a PhD. Candidate in the Department of Religious Studies at McMaster University. He is interested in the phenomenology of religion as well as in religion at the intersections of race, popular culture, and Afro-Asian encounters.
In the Spring of 2023, Marcus was honored as a Sacred Writes fellow (for training in public scholarship) and joined a cohort on Race, Religion, and Social Justice.
Marcus is currently researching and writing on the mythology and meaning of the Wu-Tang Clan. His most recent publication is "Buddhism and Afro-Asian Masculinities in 'The Man with the Iron Fists,'" in Buddhist Masculinities, edited by Megan Bryson and Kevin Buckelew (New York: Columbia University Press, 2023).
