Richard is Professor of Enterprise and Organisation and Director of the Centre for Social and Sustainable Enterprise (CSSE) at The Open University, UK. His current research focuses on promoting environmental sustainability in SMEs. Richard is a Co-I on the UKERC-funded project, SME Governance for Net Zero (GoZero) (2022-24), and has published two reviews for the Enterprise Research Centre on SME decarbonisation and eco-innovation (2021). He was also co-lead for a ESRC impact acceleration project, 'Growing Greener' (2017-20), with colleagues from the University of Oxford and Climate Outreach, which developed a new values-based course and toolkit for intermediaries, ‘Promoting Sustainability in Business’. His work has been published in journals such as Business & Society, Business Strategy and the Environment, Entrepreneurship & Regional Development, Enterprise & Society, The Journal of Small Business Management and Global Environmental Change. Richard is also co-author of the research-based textbook, Exploring Entrepreneurship (3e) (SAGE, 2021).
