I am a lecturer in Human Geography and Environmental Science who specialises in the role of civil society in disaster and crisis events. In particular, I study the emergence of new non-governmental organisations - seeking to examine how they leverage specific contexts in order to bring about longer-term change. My PhD examined these ideas in the aftermath of the 2010-11 Christchurch (New Zealand) earthquakes.
