Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, Queen's University, Ontario I am a cultural sociologist interested in understanding how people, especially contemporary Muslim women, navigate cultural contradiction, how they forge belonging and exercise agency amidst the socio-economic changes and upheavels precipitated by global processes, such as the transformation of love (Husain 2020), the spread of Western standards of safety in postcolonial contexts (Husain 2021) and the complexities of immigration and integration (current project).
