Andrew Sperling is a doctoral candidate studying American Jewish history. He received his BA in English Literature, as well as his MA in History, from North Carolina State University. His dissertation, “The Menace Amongst Us: American Jews Against Antisemitic Extremism,” explores Jewish responses to radical right-wing movements between the 1920s and 1960s. His broader research interests include Jewish refugee history, southern Jewry and the Civil Rights Movement, and the intersections between extremism and mainstream American politics. His academic work has been published in the journals Southern Jewish History and American Jewish History.
