Professor of Medical Informatics, Macquarie University Professor Coiera's research explores the roles, benefits and risks of artificial intelligence in healthcare. He has worked in academia, industry and the health system, and is dual trained in medicine and computer science. He is Director of the Centre for Health Informatics at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation, Macquarie University. He is also the Director of the NHMRC Centre for Research Excellence in Digital Health, and leads the Australian Alliance for AI in Healthcare.
