Senior Lecturer of Psychology, Royal Holloway University of London

Senior Lecturer of Psychology, Royal Holloway University of London I am Director of the MSc in Applied Neuroscience - taking applications now! https://www.royalholloway.ac.uk/studying-here/ I am Director of the Virtual Reality Lab, joint between Psychology, Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at Royal Holloway University of London. My research is focused on human visual perception and attention, using eye tracking, fMRI, EEG, virtual reality and computational modelling. My background is interdisciplinary training in Mathematics in areas of Biology for my PhD, which resulted in my work on empirical and computational investigations of space and time representation in humans. My recent work is concerned mainly with spatial exploration and representation in 3D space. This has included projects on attention guidance in 360 degrees with tech production companies. I have recently received funding for a project using eye tracking combined with agents to guide attention in multi-tasking situations. I have recently supervised PhD projects on the use of depth if field to guide attention, using eye tracking data from social media to predict personality and situation awareness in remote operators. I am also working on the biological mechanisms involved in combining eye and head movements in 360 degree visual search.

Sally Keith

Sally Keith

Senior Lecturer, Lancaster University Using coral reefs as a model system, my team aims to: (1) figure out if, when, how and why animal behaviour can scale up to influence the diversity and distribution of life on Earth, (2) identify and explain global geographical patterns in animal behaviour, (3) capture the impact of environmental change on (1)&(2), predict ecological vulnerability into the future, and offer solutions to increase ecosystem resilience. To achieve these aims, we combine purpose-built fieldwork with a macroecological approach, conducting behavioural research in multiple locations across the world. This broad geographic coverage allows us to identify generalisable "rules" for how animals behave and understand how behaviour is affected by an animal's biotic and abiotic environment in the real-world.

Stefano Balietti

Stefano Balietti

Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Northeastern University Stefano Balietti is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Network Science Institute, and a Fellow at the Harvard Institute for Quantitative Social Sciences (IQSS). His research interests involve: incentives schemes for peer review systems, consensus formation and social influence -- in particular in epistemic communities, equality and efficiency in public-goods games, efficiency in coordination games, philosophy of science -- in particular Paul Feyerabend's body of work. His methodology aims at bringing together agent-based computer simulations and behavioral experiments. He is also an active developer, and he created a JavaScript platform for conducting real-time online behavioral experiments directly in the browser called nodeGame (http://nodegame.org).
