Professor of Education Policy Research and Director of Research, School of Education, University of Birmingham Peter is Director of Research and Deputy Head of the School of Education at the University of Birmingham. He also leads the Centre for Higher Education Equity and Access and programme lead for the Masters in School Improvement and Educational Leadership. His main research interests are multidisciplinary analysis of participation, choice and engagement in secondary and higher education. Private and public finance of education. Conceptual change with particular reference to understanding in economics. Relationships between different theoretical perspectives on conceptual change, particularly Variation Theory and Threshold Concepts. Development of teachers’ thinking and practice through ‘Learning Study’
Royal Society Research Fellow, University of Leicester I am presently a Royal Society Research Fellow and Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester. I graduated with a DPhil in Planetary Physics from Jesus College, Oxford (2007) for my investigation of Saturn's atmosphere from the Cassini-Huygens spacecraft, and spent two years working as a NASA Postdoctoral Fellow at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California. I returned to Oxford in 2010 on a Glasstone Science Fellowship and Royal Society University Research Fellowship (URF). I specialise in the analysis of remote sensing data of the giant planets in our solar system, using a variety of visiting spacecraft (e.g., Cassini, Galileo, Voyager), space-based telescopes (Hubble, Spitzer, Herschel) and ground-based observatories (VLT, Gemini and IRTF). I also use transit spectroscopy of extrasolar giant planets to determine the properties of planets around other stars. These sources of data allow us to investigate the atmospheric dynamics, composition, and origins of giant planets and their extensive satellite systems.
Fellow at the School of Global Environmental Sustainability, Colorado State University Dr. Ademola Adenle was a Research Fellow and Principal Investigator at the United Nations University, Headquarters, Japan. Dr. Adenle specializes in science and technology in addressing sustainable development challenges including climate change, food insecurity, energy and health problems. Dr. Adenle is currently affliated with the School of Global Environmental Sustainability, Colorado State University, USA
Senior Lecturer in Law, Nottingham Trent University Nigel Hudson is a Senior Lecturer at Nottingham Law School, and an active member of the research Centre for Legal Education. He started his legal career with five years as a solicitor at Edge & Ellison before joining Nottingham Law School as a Principal Lecturer in 1993. Since 2003 Nigel has worked for the University of Law as the Head of Learning Design, the University of Derby as the Online Learning Academic Lead in Law, and for CILEx as an Independent Adjudicator. In December 2015 Nigel returned to Nottingham Law School to teach as a Senior Lecturer in Law. He is currently studying a Professional Doctorate in Legal Education at NTU, examining the Communities of Practice within the legal professions as his main area of research. He also covers Legal Informatics and Learning Technology as additional areas of research interest.
Professor of Economics, University of York I am an academic economist at the University of York. I hold a BSc in Economics from METU, Ankara Turkey and MSc in Economics from the University of Warwick. I completed my PhD at York and have taught at various institutions, including University of Durham, METU, and University of York where I currently hold a Chair in Economics. My main research interests are macroeconomics, political economy and international finance. More specifically my research has focussed on currency and financial crises, monetary policy, politics and policy making and more recently macroprudential policy and fiscal austerity.
Post-doctoral researcher, University of Notre Dame I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Environmental Change Initiative, University of Notre Dame working with Dr. Joe Fernando and Dr. Alan Hamlet. I received my Ph.D in regional climate modeling from Arizona State University in 2012 working with Dr. Huei-Ping Huang. My research interests lie in atmospheric sciences and land/ocean-atmosphere interactions at a range of spatial scales (regional to local) that are relevant to the management of human and natural systems. My aim is to create a new generation of high-resolution climate models capable of resolving relatively small-scale processes and impacts in a sufficiently physically based way that they can be used for future climate predictions with increased confidence. I perform targeted dynamical downscaling experiments with the overarching goal of creating "bridges" between global, regional and micro-scale modeling. Research Interests: Regional climate modeling: Land/ocean/lake-atmosphere interactions, lake breeze, UHI effect, land data assimilation, hydrometeorological extremes Microscale modeling: Climate modeling at hyper-local scales (~m scales) Climate adaptation and mitigation: Interactions between urban ecology and urban heat island in a changing climate
