REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Aug. 08, 2017 -- iPass Inc. (NASDAQ:IPAS), a leading provider of global mobile connectivity, today announced that it has extended its partnership with SITA, the world's leading specialist in air transport communications and information technology, to offer its iPass SmartConnect™ global Wi-Fi connectivity services through SITA’s dedicated online air travel marketplace, Marketplace.aero.
Marketplace.aero’s more than 2,500 small and medium-sized airline and airport customers around the world are now able to enquire about iPass SmartConnect through an online portal and receive support to purchase. Later in 2017, customers will be able to purchase iPass SmartConnect through a secure, digital checkout platform. The service will enable air travel businesses to offer their employees simple, secure, always-on access on any mobile device to the iPass Wi-Fi network. The service ensures that employees stay connected regardless of the country they are in, allowing them to access critical online business applications, such as email, flight, crew and weather apps, and even schedule emergency cover, without running up large and unexpected costs.
“We are delighted to be able to offer global Wi-Fi connectivity to our growing Marketplace.aero customer base,” said Sebastien Fabre, Vice President, Communication Business Line at SITA. “We pride ourselves on the fact that customers can access a number of innovative third party strategic partners and SITA services through our SaaS and Service marketplace. This latest partnership will help address one of the biggest challenges facing small to medium-sized airlines and airports – keeping their employees connected in a cost-effective and secure manner.”
“People working in the air travel industry require reliable and secure mobile connectivity, especially as they regularly move between regions and countries,” said iPass Chief Commercial Officer, Patricia Hume. “This extended partnership with SITA promises to bring the power of the iPass global network to more users, enabling them to stay connected and productive wherever they are.”
