Read Dead Update; Rockstar Teases Fans With Maddening Hint

Fans of Rockstar Games’ “Red Dead Redemption” game have been chomping at the bit for years waiting for news of the sequel to the amazing western shooter. Now, the studio has dropped a hint that may or may not be related to the highly anticipated “Red Dead Redemption 2.”

Fans of the first “RDD” game will be more than familiar with the title’s iconic shade of red, which is featured on the background of practically every promotional material for the game. So when Rockstar changes its Twitter and Facebook profiles to have the studio’s logo superimposed over a familiar blood red background, Gamespot and other publications are taking it to mean that a big reveal is on the way.

For those who have been playing Rockstar’s titles since the beginning, the yellow icon over the black backdrop would be highly intimate by now. It was only natural, therefore, that any change to this setup would be taken as a major development.

The new scarlet replacement is featured on Rockstar’s website as well, plastered on the whole screen a few seconds before continuing to the Home page. This makes it very clear that the studio is going to announce something related to the title in the near future.

On that note, it’s worth pointing out that the teaser could regard to the release of a re-mastered version of the acclaimed western game instead of the sequel. PC and PlayStation gamers have been clamoring for an “RDD” version to come to their own preferred platforms as well, so Rockstar certainly has a good reason for going down this road.

Then again, a re-master might not work out so well for Rockstar thanks to the current market of online multiplayer. Citing “Grand Theft Auto V’s” phenomenal success in raking in money via its online multiplayer mode, Mashable points out that the older game might not provide the studio with the same financial volcano.

This is largely thanks to the fact that “RDD” had a less appealing in-game purchase system, which turned off a lot of its players. So this unfortunate bit aspect of the title might pave the way for an “RDD 2” announcement after all.
