“Altered Carbon” season 2 will finally go into production as filming is set to begin soon. It was reported that the staff and actors of the cyberpunk drama series will be back on the set on Feb. 5, 2019.
The start of filming for “Altered Carbon” season 2 was revealed by Production Weekly just two days ago. The publication released a list of shows and movies that will go on production on its issue 1122 and stated their dates as well. The working title for this season’s episode was also divulged as “Sleeves.”
Moreover, apart from the title and date of filming, the shoot location for “Altered Carbon” season 2 was also shared. As mentioned, the drama is set to be filmed in various spots in Surrey and Vancouver, Canada.
It was further said that “Altered Carbon” season 2 is expected to wrap up filming by June 25 so there is a possibility that fans will get to see new episodes sometime in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Meanwhile, as “Altered Carbon” season 2 starts filming, the cast will return with a new lead actor. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Captain America” star Anthony Mackie has been tapped to take over Joel Kinnaman’s role as Takeshi Kovacs.
Netflix already announced in July that fans will see a major change when "Altered Carbon" season 2 airs and it turned out that Kinnaman is not coming back as the lead. In any case, the actor did not leave to star in another drama like what many people believed, Joel Kinnaman left because from the start, the show’s production team already planned to change the lead for every season.
Apart from Anthony Mackie, the other big change is the showrunner as Alison Schapker and Laeta Kalogridis were signed on to handle the drama. "Altered Carbon" season 2 is based on Richard K. Morgan’s sci-fi book of the same title. Meanwhile, the premiere date for this drama is not available yet.
