One of the highly requested features in “Among Us” is having a Friends List, and developer Innersloth has finally delivered that in the game’s latest update announced on Thursday. Fans of popular games “Halo” and “Ratchet & Clank” also have a chance to get cosmetic items inspired by these franchises this month.
The Friends List could be one of the most important additions to “Among Us” since it gained vast popularity during the pandemic, considering that it is foremost a multiplayer game. With the new feature, players can now send and receive friend requests from other players they had fun with during a match. The new feature also allows fans to send invites so their friends can join them in their lobby.
“Among Us” players are getting unique friend codes to make these functions work. If they cannot remember a player’s code after a match, the Friends List can help by letting them review who they recently played with.
Not every player is a pleasant companion to have in a match, so the Friends List system also comes with the option to block players on “Among Us.” Those who do not want to receive requests from random players can opt to hide their friend code as well. The game’s Settings menu also gets a new toggle to enable or disable lobby invite notifications.
Meanwhile, some features are not present yet in the “Among Us” Friends List function. For one, the offline and online status will not be displayed for now. Younger players will also need additional permission from guardians and parents to navigate their Friends List.
Innersloth noted in the “Among Us” version 2022.3.29 patch notes that it has temporarily disabled the option to link or unlike existing accounts. “We need to fix up the system here since we’ve heard it can be a confusing process, so for now, we are turning this feature off until the next update,” the developer said.
The latest update also brings in a range of collaborative cosmetic items and companions to “Among Us.” “Halo” fans can now dress as the Master Chief by getting the Spartan Armor and Helmet, as well as the Guilty Spark Pet, from the Xbox Store and Microsoft Store. PlayStation fans can dress as Ratchet and have Clank by their side while completing tasks. Players on all platforms can also get “Scream”-themed items, including Ghostface’s mask and robe, until April 30.
