If there was any doubt that Levi died when Zeke decided to detonate the rod stuck in his leg, the manga itself already confirmed that this is the case. The Survey Corp. ace might be a powerful fighter, but he can’t survive an explosion at point-blank range. Even if he did, it’s likely that he would be crippled for life. Zeke, on the other hand, might live and will continue his mission in “Attack on Titan” Chapter 115.
As OtakuNation notes, the explosion that took out both Zeke and Levi will likely have different implications for both. To start with, the owner of the Beast Titan is able to regenerate his damaged body parts because of his abilities. He will likely come out of this whole thing ultimately unscathed in “Attack on Titan” Chapter 115.
On the other hand, even though Levi is an Ackerman, he is not a titan. As such, he has no capacity to regrow limbs or organs that were blown away by the blast. This should be made clear in “Attack on Titan” Chapter 115. What’s more, the last panel of the previous chapter already revealed that he really is dead.
Even if by some miracle he survives the explosion, there is no possible way for him to have escaped without serious injury. “Attack on Titan” Chapter 115 might actually show the fighter without limbs and his internal organs spilling into the ground. Coming back from such a state would be impossible without turning him into a titan.
Coming back to Zeke, after surviving the blast and recovering after a few hours, he will likely continue on with his mission in “Attack on Titan” Chapter 115. As to what this mission actually is, it would appear that he means to wipe the Titans out of existence. At least, this appears to be the implication of the flashbacks shown in the previous chapter.
For those wondering when “Attack on Titan” Chapter 115 is coming out, March 9 is the date to note. Fans of Levi should prepare themselves for the worst.
