PEABODY, Mass., Feb. 10, 2016 -- Analogic Corporation (Nasdaq:ALOG), enabling the world’s medical imaging and aviation security technology, announced today that it has accepted the first order for its BK Ultrasound Sonic Window™ vascular access ultrasound system for use in kidney dialysis settings. Southeastern Renal Dialysis L.C. of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, with multiple dialysis clinics located across Iowa, will deploy multiple Sonic Window devices to its clinics to help their staff further improve the ability to deliver safe and effective dialysis services for their patients.
According to Mary Liechty, administrator, Southeastern Renal Dialysis LC, “We have been looking for a device like this for a few years. We were amazed by how user friendly the Sonic Window was to use. After seeing it in person we felt it would improve the quality of care for our patients related to cannulation of their dialysis access.”
Dr. Joseph Morris, medical director, Southeastern Renal Dialysis LC, added, “After listening to the clinical benefits and advantages of BK Ultrasound’s Sonic Window at the recent Kidney Week of the American Society of Nephrology in San Diego, and taking note of the clinical claims that early adopter sites reported, we are very pleased that we will be equipping our staff with this paradigm shifting technology.”
BK Ultrasound’s Sonic Window is a handheld, battery-operated ultrasound system with unique, real-time 2D ultrasound imaging that allows intuitive sub-surface imaging as if you were looking through the skin into the underlying anatomy. The Sonic Window enables clinicians to easily detect the locations and sizes of vessels and fistulas of dialysis patients, thereby helping them significantly ease and improve the process of cannulation.
“Analogic is continuing to develop its BK Ultrasound products for various point-of-care markets enabling higher acuity procedures in lower cost settings,” said Jim Green, president and CEO of Analogic Corporation. “With the Sonic Window, we believe we have a game changing system that can improve the patient experience while reducing complications that often lead to more costly invasive interventions at dialysis clinics worldwide.”
Mr. Green went on to say, “We are confident that BK Ultrasound’s unique, real-time 2D imaging array technology used in the Sonic Window can help improve other clinical procedures and guidance applications in point-of-care settings.”
