“Better Call Saul” season 5 will pick up from a major breakthrough in the development of Jimmy McGill to Saul Goodman, both played by Bob Odenkirk. But does this mean Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) will soon walk away from their life together?

Kim is Jimmy’s long-time friend and colleague who turned out to be his love interest. Both characters developed so well together aside from that fact that Kim was never part of Saul’s life in the original series “Breaking Bad.” With Jimmy morphing into Saul in “Better Call Saul” season 5, there is also a big chance that the direction of the plot includes Kim’s exit.

When previously asked how the rise of Saul Goodman affects his relationship with Kim, Odenkirk told Variety he thinks the two are “doomed” in “Better Call Saul” season 5. “I think he’ll still try to save it, but in my mind, it’s doomed,” the actor added.

Obviously, the introduction of Saul Goodman means that “Better Call Saul” season 5 is close to tying in with the timeline that was used in “Breaking Bad.” Though the future of the prequel spin-off, this dynamic with the original series could mean “Better Call Saul” will end soon.

However, Odenkirk hinted that there are more stories to tell in “Better Call Saul” season 5 (and possibly beyond that). “We have to deal with Kim. I don’t see how Kim could have been a part of Saul’s life at all. So we have to deal with that,” he further explained.

Aside from Kim, Odenkirk said there are still many holes to fill in developing other characters before the prequel spin-off actually catches up where “Breaking Bad” started. This leads to the teaser that “Better Call Saul” season 5 will show more of Lalo (Tony Dalton) and Nacho’s (Michael Mando) stories. “Better Call Saul” season 5 is reportedly starting production in April that means the show could return in fall.
