The next chapter of “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” is right around the corner, but it is still quite difficult to predict what will happen because of the many possibilities. The one obvious plot for “Boruto” chapter 42 is the continuation of the fight between Sarada, Mitsuki, Kawaki, and Boruto against Boro.
While the reborn Team 7 managed to find an antidote to Boro’s dark mist, the enemy managed to disrupt their plan by threatening to hurt Naruto. Is the continuing fight hinting at the younger characters getting help from others such as Sasuke and Sakura?
‘Boruto’ chapter 42: What are the chances for Sasuke and Sakura to help vs. Boro?
Sasuke has the ability to travel to the foreign dimension where the fight is happening. The last time fans saw him, he is in a hospital bed and was badly hurt. Luckily, he went back to Konohagakure in time for Sakura to heal him. There is no doubt that he will get better under Sakura’s care, but the question remains if that is going to happen in “Boruto” chapter 42.
This is crucial because once Sasuke is healed, he will most likely want to return to where Naruto is and rescue him. It is then not a far-fetched plot theory to consider him helping the reborn Team 7 against Boro in “Boruto” chapter 42.
The way this fight is shaping up, however, makes it appear to be a conflict that the new generation of characters must resolve by themselves. Boro successfully taunted Kawaki in chapter 40, but Team 7 might still have a few more tricks such as Mitsuki’s Sage Mode. Since this is a fight that the reborn Team 7 decidedly took on in the earlier chapters, it would be more satisfying to see it end without getting outside help.
‘Boruto’ chapter 42 release date, other plot possibilities
The past couple of months have been about the fight against Boro, so there is a chance for “Boruto” chapter 42 to dedicate some panels to show updates on the state of Jigen and Sasuke. Seeing what happens next while Jigen heals is exciting considering Koji Kashin previously decided to kill him while he is still weak.
Luckily, the wait for “Boruto” chapter 42 is almost over. It will be released on Jan. 20 with the official translation available online through the websites and mobile apps of Manga Plus and Viz Media.
