“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6 is returning soon and this is good news to fans because they almost will never see the lovable show again after it was canceled by Fox Network in May. It received a notice that the season 5 would be the last and many were devastated with the news.
In the wake of the outrage online, Fox defended its decision to ax the series. Dana Walden, head of Fox TV group, explained that they had to cancel for various reasons.
“It was based on a variety of factors. We love this show, those are great creators, it’s a phenomenal cast,” Entertainment Weekly quoted the TV executive as saying. “We ordered it throughout five seasons. It’s a great length of time for a single-camera comedy but ultimately we felt like we didn’t have the exact right place to schedule it this year.”
NBC saved the show barely two days after Fox’s cancellation announcement and promised the fans that it will air “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6. Soon after, the series’ new home revealed that it ordered 13 episodes for the sixth installment.
However, despite the good news, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6 will have to let go one of its mainstay artists. Chelsea Peretti who plays Gina Linetti in B99 announced that she will not appear throughout the upcoming season. She is leaving the show so her appearance in the sixth season will only be up to a certain point.
On Oct. 3, the actress informed her fans about her departure from “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6. Via Twitter, she shared that she will not finish the season but did not explain why she had to say goodbye as Gina. But despite the farewell, Peretti said that she may still come back in the future.
Now, fans have been waiting for “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” season 6’s airdate and finally, it is here. As per TV Line, it will premiere on Jan. 10, 2019 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
