Chevrolet will auction a single digital collectible representing the upcoming 2023 Corvette Z06 in partnership with non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace SuperRare.
A physical version of the car will also be given to the auction winner.
The project, titled "Own the Color," is the first "appearance" of the General Motors subsidiary in the Web3 space.
Digital artist xsullo created the NFT artwork, which depicts the car in minted green. The Corvette Z06 will not be available in minted green this year to make the auction and its products more exclusive.
DonorsChoose, a charity that helps teachers in need, will receive 100% of the proceeds from the NFT auction. The donation will also be made in cryptocurrency, as the auction will only accept Ethereum's cryptocurrency as payment.
Calling the Corvette a halo at Chevrolet, Steve Majoros, VP, of Chevrolet Marketing, said they see ‘Own the Color’ as an important stepping stone for Chevrolet into future digital initiatives for our customers.”
