SAN PABLO, Calif., Feb. 12, 2016 -- U.S. News and World Report recently announced its list of Best Nursing Homes, designating the 80-bed Creekside Healthcare Center in San Pablo as a five-star facility.
Best Nursing Homes is designed to help the several million Americans who will spend at least some time in a nursing home after a hospital stay or as long-term residents. On a given day, 1.4 million people, most of them 65 and older, live in nursing homes.
Each nursing home receives an overall rating of one to five stars, based on its value within three categories of health inspections, how much time nurses spend with residents and the quality of medical care. Nearly every nursing home in the country was reviewed, using data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Collected by U.S. News, the report enables families to find facilities that best meet their individual needs and cross-reference with corresponding quality ratings.
In addition to being recognized as a five-star facility, the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) awarded Janet C. Rotich, Administrator of Creekside Healthcare Center, the ACHCA Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award. The award, named in memory of visionary ACHCA member Eli Pick recognizes administrators whose teams have achieved dimensions of organizational quality that few others have been able to reach.
Eligibility for this award is based on three years of skilled nursing facility (SNF) survey data, including the Health, Fire (Life Safety), and Complaint Surveys, as well as top quartile performance on designated Quality Measures. The criteria also included an 80% or greater facility occupancy and a three year avoidance of a Special Focus Facility status.
“We are honored to be recognized as a five-star facility and I am very humbled by this acknowledgment and share the Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award with my distinguished colleagues at Creekside," said Janet Rotich. “The aesthetics and amenities of Creekside Healthcare Center are second to none, but they are just mortar and brick. The real foundations of this outstanding facility are the people engaged in care on an everyday basis. Our standards are high, and our expectations for quality empower our staff to strive to be the best they can be. I cannot understate the importance of our colleagues' compassionate care and skill among those factors. I congratulate the full team at Creekside Healthcare Center on our outstanding achievement and thank them for the good work they do every single day in serving those entrusted to our care.”
